HB 2534: End gender-based taxes

HB 2534 intended to end gender-based state sales tax on feminine hygiene products and diapers through December 31, 2030. Ending gender-based taxes on feminine hygiene products and diapers would alleviate some economic stress for women and mothers who require supplies in order to attend school, work, and participate fully in daily life.

Unfortunately, HB 2534 was not heard in the House Committee on Health and Human Services during this session which stopped momentum in the legislative process. This leaves women and girls with no option but to continue to pay state sales tax on hygiene items that are essential.

WFSA is committed to this policy priority and will continue to educate on hygiene equity and removing unnecessary economic burdens for women.
