Why This Work Matters. Our 2025 Impact Report Is Here.
Across Arizona, too many women and families are still navigating systems that were not built with them in mind.
Women working full time earn about 83 cents for every dollar earned by men. For Black women, that number drops to about 63 cents. For Latinas, it is closer to 57 cents compared to white, non-Hispanic men. At the same time, the cost of child care continues to rise. In Arizona, the median daily rate for full-time care is $61.40 for infants and $51.50 for toddlers, adding up to around $13,000 a year for many families.
Arizona is also one of the states without a statewide paid family and medical leave program for private-sector workers. And about 15 percent of women ages 18 to 44 live below the federal poverty line. Yet organizations that serve women and girls receive only 1.9 percent of total U.S. charitable giving.
These realities are why our foundation exists.
They are why community leaders, advocates, and grassroots organizations across Arizona continue to organize, build solutions, and care for one another. And they are why at WFSA we focus on moving resources, building leadership, and advancing policies that support women, girls, and gender-expansive people.
In 2025, that work looked like this:
-
$1.23 million invested in community organizations across Southern and Central Arizona through our FORGE and ember grants
-
$4 million secured for Arizona’s Healthy Families program through advocacy
-
28+ community partners funded to meet urgent needs and build long-term change
-
The re-launch of the Unidas Youth Leadership Program, centering young people as advocates and decision-makers
Behind these numbers are real stories. Youth stepping into leadership. Community members gaining access to food, health care, and safe spaces. Grassroots organizations strengthening their programs and reaching more people.
This report is a snapshot of what happens when we invest in community-driven solutions and trust the leadership already present across Arizona.
