The Women’s Foundation for the State of Arizona (WFSA) will host its inaugural virtual summit event on December 14, 2022. The summit will feature a keynote conversation on gender, racial and economic equity and includes partners from the organization who are building a better future for Arizona’s women and girls of all identities.
Hosted by WFSA’s CEO Dr. Amalia Luxardo, the summit keynote is mother, author, founder and activist Nicole Lynn Lewis who is also the founder and CEO of Generation Hope. This nonprofit organization drives a two-generation solution to poverty. In her book, Pregnant Girl, Nicole presents the possibility of a different future for young mothers — one of success and stability — in the midst of the dismal statistics dominating the national conversation. She will share her perspective on how poverty, classism, and systemic racism impact teen pregnancy and on how effective programs and equitable policies can create change.
The virtual series spans three hours and will be comprised of several segments, each representing one of WFSA’s strategic priorities:
- Research: This year, in partnership with the University of Washington, WFSA has updated the Self-Sufficiency Standard for the State of Arizona and will review how this important tool can support the economic mobility of Arizonans.
- Advocacy: Learn what to anticipate this upcoming legislative session and gain tools to advocate for women and girls from our partners at Goodman Schwartz Public Affairs.
- Innovative Solutions: Hear from the lived experiences of women embarking on their path to self-sufficiency and WFSA’s approach to innovative programming that creates sustainable futures for Arizona families.
- Philanthropy: Learn about the importance of equitable and community-centered grantmaking to support thriving communities.
The summit will be streamed online to ticket holders on December 14, 2022, from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m.
