Women’s Foundation of Southern Arizona Announces Board Changes
The Women’s Foundation of Southern Arizona (WFSA) is pleased to announce new changes within the board of trustees.
The incoming Board Chair is Gabriela Cervantes, a local business leader, dedicated philanthropist, and longtime supporter and board member. Her longstanding history with WFSA lends to her role, where she will further guide and support the growth of WFSA’s critical gender and racial equity work. Newly elected Vice Chair Kasey Urquidez joins Cervantes as she transitions from her current role as Governance Committee Chair.
“I look forward to having a greater impact on families in Southern Arizona by creating additional opportunities for women to become self-sufficient and by removing barriers that hold women —and by extension, all of us — back,” said Cervantes.
Jenny Flynn had been slated to take on the position of WFSA Board Chair when she accepted the Chief Executive Officer position at the Community Foundation of Southern Arizona. She has served on the WFSA board since 2018 and has been involved with the organization for many years, providing strategic guidance and expertise in shaping the organization’s philanthropic vision.
“I support WFSA as a donor and became a volunteer and trustee because of its trailblazing role in creating real, positive change in our community by empowering women and girls. I have seen the change in action and can’t wait to see what is coming next,” said Flynn.
WFSA is recruiting new and diverse leaders to join the board of trustees. Leaders seeking to share their expertise and passion for supporting gender and racial equity in Arizona are encouraged to learn more by emailing getinvolved@womengiving.org.
