The Women’s Foundation for the State of Arizona Celebrates Milestones in Pathways for Single Moms Program

(TUCSON, AZ) — The Women’s Foundation for the State of Arizona (WFSA) proudly announces the graduation of 23 participants from the Pathways for Single Moms program this May, bringing the total number of graduates to 111 since the program’s expansion statewide in 2022. This impactful initiative has supported over 2,591 mothers, with 138 completing their educational journey to date.

These milestones mark significant achievements for the Pathways for Single Moms program, which continues to empower single mothers through education and career advancement, fostering economic independence and improved quality of life for their families.

“We are incredibly proud of the accomplishments of our graduates,” said Katia Jones, CEO of WFSA. “Each participant’s success story is a testament to the transformative power of education and the importance of community support.”

The Pathways for Single Moms program provides comprehensive support to single mothers, including academic counseling, financial assistance, and career development resources. By addressing the unique challenges faced by single mothers, the program aims to create a pathway to sustainable employment and economic self-sufficiency. WFSA is proud of the program’s reach within the state of Arizona with 98 zip codes being served from metro spaces like Tucson and Phoenix to border towns like Bullhead City and rural areas like Kayenta and Amado.

WFSA extends its heartfelt gratitude to the program partners who have made these successes possible. Special thanks go to Dress for Success Phoenix, YWCA of Southern Arizona, Maricopa Community Colleges, Pima Community College, Coconino Community College, Paradise Valley Community College, and Rio Salado College. Their collaboration and support have been instrumental in the program’s achievements.

WFSA’s Director of Pilot Programs, Joanna Marroquin, states “The moms in this program have worked incredibly hard to get to this point and we are so proud of them. They have taken an important step that has greatly impacted them and their children’s lives. Their journeys are both inspiring and uplifting. A special thanks to our community partners supporting the many moms across Arizona in rural and urban spaces.”

Looking ahead, WFSA is excited to announce that a full pilot program report will be released this fall, detailing the progress and impact of the Pathways for Single Moms program.
